The short version
Playsistence has no accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies, and no database of you. Your game progress and play history stay in your browser. Our visitor counter counts pages, not people, and sets no cookies. If you write to us through the contact form, your message goes to one inbox. If you use an AI mode, your own key and your words go from your browser directly to the AI provider you chose — never through us.
What actually gets processed, and by whom
- Hosting logs. The site is served by Google's Firebase Hosting, which — like essentially all web hosting — processes IP addresses and request logs at the infrastructure level to deliver pages and prevent abuse. We don't use these to identify visitors.
- Game saves. Stored in your browser's local storage on your device, under this site's origin. Nothing is uploaded. Your browser may delete them (some browsers clear site storage after ~7 days without a visit) — the export button on a player page gives you a file you own outright.
- Your player record. The site keeps a small record on your device of how you play — which games you've opened, how many times, how long (counted only while the tab is actually visible), and any answers or notes a game saves (like a name you choose for yourself, or “picked the garden path”). Games can read this to recognize you across the arcade and react to it — that's the meta-game, and it's the point. It never leaves your browser, it's never uploaded, and it's never mixed with the anonymous counter below. It's capped in size, and clearing your site data erases it completely. Small on-device touches — like a ♥ you leave on a journal entry — live here too, on your device only, and are never a public count.
- Shared choices (only if you opt in). A few games can show you how everyone else has chosen — a running, anonymous tally. Before such a game starts, you pick private or connected. Private keeps your choices on your device, and you can still see the crowd. Connected adds one anonymous mark for the choice you made — just the choice, never your name, never your player record — to that public tally. It's off unless you choose it, it's per game, and you can switch it back anytime from the bar while you play. The tally rides the same cookieless counter as our analytics; no profile, no identity.
- AI modes (bring your own key). If you paste an API key, it is kept in this browser only — by default just for the session, longer only if you choose “remember on this device.” Prompts and game text in AI modes are sent from your browser directly to your chosen provider (Google, Anthropic, or OpenAI) under that provider's own privacy policy and terms. Playsistence servers never see your key or your prompts. We will only ever ask for a key in one place — the key drawer on a player page — and never by email.
- The contact form. Submitting it sends what you typed — your message, the category you picked, and (if you filled them) your name and email — to Web3Forms, a form-relay service that forwards it to our inbox and keeps it only briefly to deliver it. We use it solely to read and reply. There's no account and no newsletter; your email is used only to write back, and never shared. Plain email to the address above works exactly the same and skips the relay entirely.
- Analytics. A cookieless counter (GoatCounter) counts page views and a few anonymous events like “a game started.” It's a tiny invisible image, not a script, and it sets no cookies, builds no profile, and never receives anything from your player record — only the page name or event name. That's why there's no cookie banner: there's no cross-site tracking to disclose.
What we will never do
- Sell or share data — there's nothing to sell.
- Ask for your AI key anywhere except the key drawer, or ever by email.
- Add tracking that needs a cookie banner. If the day comes that changes, you'll see the banner.
Your choices
Visit your record to see everything this site keeps about you on one page — your plays, anything you told a game, what each game noticed, and your per-game sharing choices — and to export it as a file or erase it. That page reads only your own device and sends nothing anywhere. Clearing your browser's site data for playsistence.com removes everything we ever stored (that record, your game saves, and any ♥ you left). For anything else — questions, deletion of an email thread, a complaint — write to the address above with “privacy” in the subject.
